Dale was the oldest of four children, born in Los Angeles, on April 16, 1937. He graduated from Venice High School in Venice, California in 1955. Upon receiving his diploma, he joined the U.S. Navy. He served for four years where his last duty assignment was in the Airborne Barrier Services Squad Two. He received an honorable discharge in 1959 with the rank of E5 and he served in the Reserves until 1961. Dale had joined the Navy "to see the world" and was stationed "overseas" in Hawaii at Barber's Point for a year. During this time, Hawaii became part of the United States of America. He recounted the Hawaiians' excitement and celebrations. (Many a story of how he learned to surf in Waikiki with the original long board!) Dale never was on board ship but loved the aircraft side of the Navy.
Dale enjoyed the outdoors. Fishing, hunting, camping, working out in the backyard, working in his shop and having his classic cars around him, declaring he would work on them when he retired! And now his sons take on that challenge!
Dale aka Daddy, Papa, Brother, Uncle, will be greatly missed.
