LATANYA TOBIAS was born on February 28, 1976, in Lancaster, CA, to the union of Samuel J. Tobias and Helen Linicome. She entered into internal life on March, 4, 2025.
Family members and loved ones called her Tanya, Nana, Big Sis., BFF, Daughter, Better Half, and other nicknames of endearment. Tanya accepted the lord at a young age at Antelope Valley Church of God in Christ and later rededicated her faithful walk with the lord until her transition. She enjoyed attending church every Sunday with her family in a more intimate setting because of her illness, listening to Elder Robert Fields who entered into her life in 1979 and became her dad in 1984, teach and preach the gospel to the family. This allowed her to grow her relationship and faith in Jesus Christ which was strong and steadfast. No matter how ill she felt she faithfully tune in to hear the Word
During her childhood Tanya excelled in academics and made the honor roll on numerous occasions. She was very popular and had the qualities of leadership, sense of humor, kindness, sense of fair play, joviality, and just an overall great personality who made friends easily. At Piute Middle School she made the track team and celebrated several championships as a member of the sprint team. In her transition to Antelope Valley High School, she focused on academic success and upon graduation in 1994 she achieved an academic scholarship to attend Langston University in Oklahoma (HBCU) where she studied Fine Arts and History.
After college Tanya returned home in 1996 and reunited with her loving fiance’ Tyrone Cavins, who together, on June 13, 1996, enjoyed the birth of daughter, Ashlynn Cavins and later a son Tyjoun Cavins on October 19, 2001. Tanya and Tyrone embarked on parenthood. Tanya enjoyed going to dinner, watching movies and going on cruises. They were devoted to each other throughout good times and bad. Their love is clearly evident as they spent quality time together until her transition. Tanya will remain in the hearts of the entire family as she was a family person.
